THERE IS / THERE ARE



We use there is and  there are to say that something exists. We use there is for singular and there are for plural.
There is an orange on the table. There are three oranges in the fridge.

CONTRACTIONS: There is / there's. You cannot contract there are.

NEGATIVE FORM: There is not a horse in the field. There isn't a horse in the field. there's not a horse in the field.
There are not ten girls in this classroom. There aren't ten girls in this classroom.

QUESTIONS: To forme a question we place is/are in front of there.
Is there a cat in the school? Are there any dogs is the park?
